Native to Central/South America; introduced to Asia (India, Singapore, Malaysia).

Plant in sandy-loam soil; spacing 4–5 meters apart.

Apply compost annually; minimal fertilizer needed.

Botanical name: Muntingia calabura; Family: Muntingiaceae.
