I am Gundo, the sticky fruit tree of Gujarat. My small brown fruits are tangy and gluey, loved in pickles and folk medicine. I thrive in dry soils, offering shade, fodder, and traditional remedies to rural communities.

Native to India; common in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and dry tropics.
Minimal; drought-tolerant once mature.
Requires full sun.
Thrives in 25–40°C; tolerates arid heat.
Plant in sandy-loam soil; spacing 6–8 meters apart.
Apply compost annually; minimal fertilizer needed.
Botanical name: Cordia dichotoma / Cordia myxa; Family: Boraginaceae.
Fruits safe in small amounts; sticky pulp not ideal for pets.
Moderate; large canopy reduces dust.
Fruits used in pickles, cooling drinks, and Ayurveda (digestive aid, cough relief). Leaves used as fodder.
Susceptible to leaf spot and caterpillars; generally hardy.
Can live 40–50 years; starts fruiting in 4–5 years; peak yield from year 10 onward.
