I am Hadvel, the desert creeper. My small, round fruits look like tiny melons, but inside I hold bitter pulp with medicinal power. I thrive in dry soils, offering communities a hardy plant for traditional remedies and ecological balance.
I am a wild creeper producing small bitter fruits.
Native to arid regions of India, Middle East, and North Africa.
Minimal; drought-resistant.
Requires full sun.
Thrives in 25–40°C; tolerates extreme heat.
Grows naturally in sandy or rocky soils; spreads as a creeper.
None required; survives in poor soils.
Botanical name: Citrullus colocynthis; Family: Cucurbitaceae.
Fruits are toxic if consumed raw.
Low; mainly ecological ground cover.
Used in Ayurveda and folk medicine for digestive issues, skin ailments, and as a purgative.
