I am the Sacred Fig, also known as the Bodhi Tree or Peepal. My heart-shaped leaves flutter in the breeze, and my branches have shaded sages and seekers for centuries. Under my canopy, the Buddha attained enlightenment. I thrive in tropical climates, purify the air, and symbolize wisdom, longevity, and spiritual awakening. I am sacred, strong, and ever-giving.

I am a sacred fig tree with fluttering heart-shaped leaves, revered in Hinduism and Buddhism for my spiritual significance.

Native to the Indian subcontinent and Indochina.

Water moderately; drought-tolerant once mature.

Requires full sun for optimal growth.

Thrives in warm climates between 20–35°C.

Plant in deep, well-drained soil; allow space for large roots and canopy.

Minimal feeding; apply compost once or twice a year.

Botanical name: Ficus religiosa; Family: Moraceae.

Generally non-toxic, but large roots and leaves may pose mild digestive issues if ingested.

Excellent; known for releasing oxygen even at night and filtering pollutants.

Provides shade, supports biodiversity, and holds cultural and spiritual value.

May develop root overgrowth or leaf drop in poor soil or low light.

Can live for hundreds of years; some specimens are over 2,000 years old.
