I am the Sal Tree, a towering symbol of strength and sanctity across the Indian subcontinent. My dense hardwood is prized for construction, while my presence graces temples and forests alike. I thrive in tropical climates, shedding my leaves in summer and bursting into fragrant yellow-white blooms. I’ve stood tall for centuries—offering shade, shelter, and spiritual connection.
I am a sacred deciduous tree known for my durable timber, fragrant flowers, and cultural importance in India and Nepal.
Native to India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and the Himalayan foothills.
Water moderately; drought-tolerant once established.
Prefers full sun.
Thrives in tropical climates between 25–35°C.
Plant in deep, well-drained soil; allow space for tall growth.
Apply compost or organic manure annually.
Botanical name: Shorea robusta; Family: Dipterocarpaceae.
Non-toxic to pets; fallen leaves and bark are safe.
Moderate; helps reduce dust and provides cooling shade.
