I am Red Dragon Fruit, the orchard’s crimson star. My vivid red flesh bursts with sweetness and antioxidants, loved fresh or in juices, smoothies, and desserts.
I am a tropical cactus producing red-fleshed dragon fruits.
Native to Central America; cultivated widely in Asia, India, and tropical regions.
Water every 7–10 days; drought-tolerant but avoid waterlogging.
Requires full sun.
Thrives in 20–35°C; sensitive to frost.
Plant in sandy-loam soil with trellis support; spacing 2–3 meters apart.
Apply compost and NPK 8:10:10 every 2–3 months.
Botanical name: Hylocereus costaricensis / Hylocereus polyrhizus; Family: Cactaceae.
Fruits are safe; stems not edible.
Moderate; cactus canopy reduces dust.
Fruits rich in vitamin C, betalains (antioxidants), and fiber; eaten fresh, juiced, or in desserts.
Susceptible to stem rot, fruit fly, and anthracnose; prune for airflow and monitor regularly.
Can live 20+ years; starts fruiting in 1–2 years; peak yield from year 5 onward.
