I am Blueberry, the orchard’s sapphire gem. My clusters of tiny blue fruits are sweet, tangy, and bursting with health benefits, loved fresh or in pies and smoothies.
I am a temperate fruit shrub producing clusters of blue berries.
Native to North America; cultivated worldwide in temperate regions.
Water twice weekly; prefer acidic, moist soil.
Requires full sun to partial shade.
Thrives in 15–25°C; sensitive to heat above 32°C.
Plant in acidic sandy-loam soil (pH 4.5–5.5); spacing 1–1.5 meters apart.
Apply compost and acid-loving plant fertilizer (ammonium sulfate).
Botanical name: Vaccinium corymbosum (highbush), Vaccinium angustifolium (lowbush); Family: Ericaceae.
Fruits are safe; leaves not edible.
Moderate; dense foliage reduces dust.
Fruits rich in vitamin C, vitamin K, fiber, and antioxidants; eaten fresh, baked, or juiced.
Susceptible to root rot, aphids, and powdery mildew; prune for airflow and monitor regularly.
Can live 20–30 years; starts fruiting in 2–3 years; peak yield from year 6 onward.
