I am a grafted tropical fruit tree producing mangosteens.
Native to Southeast Asia; cultivated in India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
Irrigate weekly; prefer moist, well-drained soil.
Requires full sun to partial shade.
Thrives in 25–35°C; sensitive to frost.
Plant in sandy-loam soil; spacing 8–10 meters apart; grafted plants fruit earlier.
Apply compost and NPK 8:10:10 every 2–3 months.
Botanical name: Garcinia mangostana; Family: Clusiaceae.
Fruits are safe; rind not edible.
Moderate; dense canopy reduces dust.
Fruits rich in xanthones, vitamin C, and antioxidants; eaten fresh, juiced, or medicinally.
Susceptible to root rot, anthracnose, and fruit borer; prune for airflow and monitor regularly.
Can live 30–40 years; grafted plants fruit in 5–6 years vs. 8–10 years for seedlings.
