I am Coco Plum, the coastal survivor with glossy leaves and jewel-toned fruits. My berries are small but flavorful, perfect for jams and jellies. I thrive in sandy soils and salty breezes, offering beauty, resilience, and seasonal treats.

I am a coastal shrub or small tree producing edible plum-like fruits.

Native to Florida, the Caribbean, and tropical Central/South America.

Water weekly; drought- and salt-tolerant once established.

Full sun to partial shade.

Thrives in 24–35°C; tolerates coastal winds and saline soils.

Plant in sandy or loamy soil; spacing 2–3 meters apart for hedges.

Apply compost annually; minimal fertilization needed.

Botanical name: Chrysobalanus icaco; Family: Chrysobalanaceae.

Fruits are safe; seeds not typically consumed.

Moderate; dense foliage reduces dust and wind erosion.

Fruits rich in antioxidants and vitamin C; used in jams, jellies, and traditional remedies.

Generally pest-resistant; occasional scale insects or fungal leaf spots.

Can live 30–50 years; starts fruiting in 3–4 years; peak yield from year 8 onward.
