I am the "Grapetree of the Tropics," a botanical wonder famous for my cauliflory—the magical ability to grow flowers and fruits directly on my trunk and main branches. While traditional Jaboticabas can take over a decade to fruit, I am a special Red Hybrid selection designed for the impatient gardener. I am a "precocious" variety, often producing my first crop in as little as 3 to 5 years, and I can fruit multiple times throughout the year!

I am a high-value ornamental and fruiting shrub prized for my unique "trunk-fruiting" habit and my delicious, grape-like berries that appear in thick, purple-red clusters.

My parentage traces back to the Brazilian rainforests (Plinia species), but this specific Red Hybrid was developed to be faster-fruiting and more adaptable to smaller garden spaces.

I love water and am often called a "moisture-loving" plant; I need consistent watering to keep my soil damp, as drying out can cause me to drop my leaves or flowers.

I thrive in full sun to partial shade; while I need sun to produce heavy crops, I actually appreciate some afternoon shade in extremely hot, inland climates.

I prefer warm to temperate climates between 18°C and 32°C; I am surprisingly resilient and can handle light, brief frosts once I am an established tree.

I have a beautiful, multi-stemmed growth habit and am perfect for "edible landscaping" or large containers; I require acidic soil (low pH) to prevent my leaves from turning yellow.

I am a moderate feeder; I love organic fertilizers like fish emulsion and need regular doses of chelated iron or sulfur if your soil is too alkaline.

My scientific name is Plinia cauliflora x aureana (Red Hybrid) and I belong to the Myrtaceae family, making me a relative of the Guava.

My fruit flesh is safe for pets, but my skin is very high in tannins and my seeds should not be swallowed in large quantities—always supervise your furry friends.

My dense, fine-textured evergreen foliage is excellent at producing oxygen and acts as a beautiful, year-round "living screen" for privacy and dust filtration.

I am an antioxidant superstar, packed with anthocyanins (found in my skin) and Vitamin C; my fruit tastes like a cross between a muscadine grape and a lychee.

My biggest challenge is iron chlorosis (yellowing leaves) if the soil pH is too high; I also need protection from birds who find my trunk-borne berries irresistible.

I am a slow-growing but incredibly long-lived perennial; I can remain a productive and stunning centerpiece in your garden for 60 to 100 years.
