I am a stunning and technologically advanced hybrid mango variety, developed to be both visually spectacular and incredibly delicious. I produce medium-to-large, oblong fruits that are famous for their bright yellow skin covered with a rich red-to-purple blush. My flesh is a deep, vibrant orange, exceptionally firm, and completely fiberless, offering a high sugar-to-acid ratio that results in an intense, honey-like sweetness.
I am a high-yielding, regular-bearing hybrid variety prized for my late-season ripening, which allows me to be enjoyed after many other varieties have finished fruiting.
I was developed by the Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture (CISH) in Lucknow, India, as a cross between the colorful Amrapali and the majestic Janardhan Pasand.
I require deep and consistent watering during my fruit-set and development phases to support my heavy clusters, but I prefer well-drained soil to maintain peak fruit quality.
I am a total sun-seeker; I need at least 8 to 10 hours of direct sunlight daily to develop my signature purple-red pigments and to reach my full sugar potential.
I thrive in warm, subtropical and tropical climates between 24°C and 40°C and am very well-adapted to the intense heat of the North Indian plains.
I have a moderately vigorous growth habit and prefer deep, fertile loamy soil; I am suitable for high-density planting due to my manageable canopy.
I respond beautifully to organic manures and traditional composting, supplemented with a potassium-rich fertilizer in early spring to enhance my fruit color and shelf life.
My scientific name is Mangifera indica 'Ambika' and I belong to the Anacardiaceae family.
My flesh is a safe treat for pets, but my sap can be quite potent and may cause skin irritation; the pit is a choking hazard and should always be discarded.
My dense, lush evergreen foliage is a powerhouse for filtering dust and carbon dioxide, providing a cooling and fresh microclimate for your garden.
I am a nutritional powerhouse rich in Vitamin A and C, and my firm flesh and thick skin give me an exceptional shelf life, making me perfect for export.
I am known for my field resistance to mango malformation, but I should be monitored for fruit flies and hoppers during the humid ripening months.
I am a sturdy and reliable perennial tree that can continue to provide you with "royal" colorful harvests for 40 to 60 years.
