I am a magnificent and large-sized mango variety, widely celebrated in Western India for my impressive scale and my beautiful, smooth skin. I produce massive, round-to-oblong fruits that can easily weigh up to 1kg or more, featuring a greenish-yellow exterior with a soft pinkish-red blush. My flesh is a deep lemon-yellow, largely fiberless, and offers a pleasant, mild sweetness with a firm texture.
I am a robust, heavy-yielding mango variety famous for producing some of the largest fruits in the Indian mango family, often used for both table consumption and traditional pickling.
I originated in the state of Gujarat, India, and have become a staple in orchards across Maharashtra and Karnataka due to my reliable performance.
I need deep, regular watering while my large fruits are developing to prevent them from dropping prematurely, though I prefer well-drained soil to avoid root rot.
I require full, direct sunlight for at least 8 hours a day; plenty of sun is essential for me to develop my characteristic red blush and to sweeten my thick flesh.
I thrive in hot, tropical, and subtropical climates between 25°C and 40°C and am very resilient to the intense heat of the Indian summer.
I grow into a large tree with a dense, spreading canopy, so I need a spacious spot in the garden and deep, fertile soil to support my heavy fruit loads.
I am a heavy feeder; I appreciate a generous application of organic farmyard manure and a potassium-rich fertilizer during the pre-flowering stage.
My scientific name is Mangifera indica 'Rajapuri' and I belong to the Anacardiaceae family.
My fruit flesh is safe for pets, but my large size makes my pit a severe choking hazard, and my sap can be irritating to their skin.
My massive, dense evergreen canopy is highly effective at absorbing carbon dioxide and providing cooling shade to the surrounding environment.
I am an excellent source of Vitamin A and C, and my firm, thick flesh makes me one of the best varieties for making traditional "Aam Ka Achar" (mango pickle) and preserves.
Due to the weight of my fruit, my branches may need physical support to prevent snapping, and I should be monitored for fruit flies during the ripening stage.
I am a very sturdy and long-lived perennial tree that can continue to provide "royal" sized harvests for 50 to 80 years.
