I am a revolutionary mango variety from India, celebrated as the world's first virtually seedless mango. I produce medium-sized, oval fruits with a smooth, greenish-yellow skin and a deep orange, pulpy flesh. Because my stone is incredibly thin and small (weighing only about 6 grams), I offer a much higher percentage of sweet, fiberless pulp compared to almost any other mango.
I am a unique hybrid variety known for my "stenospermocarpy" (producing fruits without a developed seed), giving you an almost entirely edible mango experience.
I was developed by the researchers at the Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth (Dapoli) in Maharashtra, India, by crossing the Ratna and Alphonso varieties.
I need moderate but consistent watering throughout the year, especially during the flowering and fruit-setting stages, to prevent my delicate fruits from dropping.
I thrive in full, bright sunlight for 8 to 10 hours a day, which helps me develop my high sugar content and rich, golden flesh.
I prefer warm, tropical climates between 24°C and 36°C and am well-suited to the coastal and inland heat of the Indian subcontinent.
I have a naturally semi-dwarf and compact growth habit, making me an ideal candidate for home gardens, high-density orchards, or even large pots.
I am a moderate feeder; I appreciate organic manure (like Vermicompost) and a balanced fertilizer twice a year to maintain my health and productivity.
My scientific name is Mangifera indica 'Sindhu' and I belong to the Anacardiaceae family.
My flesh is safe and fiber-free for pets, but as always, keep them away from my leaves and sap, which can cause skin irritation.
My evergreen canopy provides year-round oxygen and acts as a natural air filter, making your garden a fresher place to breathe.
I am a "utility" mango because I provide nearly 85% edible pulp, making me perfect for fresh eating, juices, and desserts with very little waste.
I am generally resistant to many common pests, but I should be monitored for fruit flies and mango hoppers during my flowering season.
I am a sturdy perennial tree that, with proper care and pruning, will provide you with "seedless" harvests for 30 to 40 years.
