All Details
I am a majestic and colossal variety, widely hailed as a true "King" among mangoes for my extraordinary size and royal appearance. I produce massive, elongated fruits that are among the heaviest in the world, with a single mango typically weighing between 1.5kg and 3kg, and sometimes reaching a record-breaking 4kg. My skin is a smooth, bright golden-yellow when ripe, and my flesh is a deep saffron-orange, buttery, and completely fiberless, offering an intensely sweet, honey-like flavor with subtle floral notes.
I am a premium, high-yielding variety prized for my "jumbo" proportions and high pulp-to-stone ratio; I am a favorite for fruit collectors and high-end markets looking for a "showstopper" mango.
As my name suggests, I originated in the tropical region of Brunei in Southeast Asia, but I have since been adapted and grown with great success in tropical and subtropical climates worldwide.
Because I grow such enormous fruits, I require regular and deep watering during my fruit-swelling stage; however, I must be kept in well-drained soil to avoid root rot.
I am a total sun-worshipper; I need 8 to 10 hours of direct, intense sunlight to develop my high Brix (sugar) levels and my signature golden skin.
I thrive in warm, tropical climates between 24°C and 40°C; I love humidity but am sensitive to frost, so I perform best in regions with long, hot summers.
Despite the size of my fruit, I can be maintained as a manageable tree through pruning; I prefer deep, fertile loamy soil and am highly suitable for high-density planting if spaced correctly.
I am a heavy feeder during the fruiting season; I respond beautifully to organic manures like vermicompost and a boost of potassium to support my massive fruit production.
My scientific name is Mangifera indica 'Brunei King' and I belong to the Anacardiaceae family.
My golden flesh is a safe, vitamin-rich treat for pets, but my sap can be irritating to their skin, and my large stone is a major choking hazard.
My large, lush evergreen leaves are highly effective at absorbing carbon dioxide and providing deep, cooling shade, making me a functional and beautiful landscape addition.
I am a nutritional powerhouse rich in Vitamin A, C, and potassium; my firm, fiberless flesh makes me excellent for fresh eating, juicing, and making luxury desserts.
I am generally disease-resistant, but my heavy branches often require physical support or "staking" to prevent them from breaking under the weight of my giant mangoes.
I am a sturdy and reliable perennial tree that can continue to provide you with "king-sized" harvests for 40 to 60 years or more.
